Although todays topic was a combo of history and sediments, (both of which do not get along with me) there was some pretty interesting information today. We got a first hand look at manual core sampling! Its hard work albeit fun. Here is a little interesting fact, barrier island can change morphology dramatically in as little as 40 years. The inside stuff was not so much fun. I got to listen to an aliminum pipe full of peat, sand, and hudreds of year old decaying bivalves mock me about trying to figure out what kind of wheather there was in the good ole days.
Todays word of the day is eurythermal. It means to be resistant to changes in temperature. This is pertanent to organisms that can not survive in areas out of their habitable range. Tje picyure attached is us preparing to do a manual core sample!
