Leaving USFSP
This week has gone by so fast and I have learned so much, Dr.Judkins was an amazing instructor she had such a great game plan and was a lot of fun. This week I was able to see a few different possibilities in terms of field work that there are for marine biology. Day four we got to go to the Florida Aquarium which has a great set up to learn about many of Florida's coastal or marine ecosystems. One of the most interesting exhibits was the river otter, the are one of the most fascinating animals to watch. They are so playful and are always curious about whats going on. They would be doing back flips of the glass as I would walk by, or rubbing their faces on the rocks to satisfy an itch. Day five we finished up by watching Blue Planet and I had learned that if given the right signals a sea gull would pick parasite off of a mola mola. My word off the day would be LEBS which stands for low-coherence enhanced backscattering which is a technique that was used to help determine the light scattering abilities of different coral species.
