FGCU: Vester Marine Lab

What a week! Last week was a whirlwind of learning.

We had a short crash course lecture on the basics of different topics each day from 8:30am till 10-ish followed by field work pertaining to that day's study, we then had a lunch break followed by lab time to analyze our samples, then followed by a lab report. Needless to say we were quite busy! It was very interesting to learn about so many different topics and then get to actually get out in the field and actively learn and apply it. Our topics began with geology doing some sediment coring, physical oceanography monitoring the tides with grapefruit and flow, microbiology collecting of detritus in the sediment of mangroves and analyzing the microorganisms present, seagrass ecosystems with quadrats and nets collections, and finally Friday we briefly touched on oysters reefs examining an oyster reef and the organisms present.

This is a nudibranch, most of us are quite obsessed with them. They're are so many beautiful species of them.
Here is a blog about them background info and sweet pics!
